Description - Light brown/ orange bark. Green leaves with bright red, pink, purple flowers.
Location - Konini are hardy. They can survive harsh elements and grow in many places.
Uses
The bark is papery and can be peeled off, sometimes used as bushmans tobacco. The pollen from the flower is loved by bees and has a distinctive blue tint, also used for facial decoration by Maori. The wood is very hard and is fire resistant, and the flowers and fruit are food for the kereru.
Planting
Seeds need to be planted in light conditions for best results.
